About Us

I'm Allan. I run Laredo Disc Golf Store and I've been a live sound engineer for over a decade — currently touring as FOH for Dwight Yoakam. I travel most of the year, which means I've had the chance to see how disc golf has taken over everywhere from Nashville to wherever the next venue is. Courses in every city, players everywhere, whole communities built around the sport.

Laredo has one course. That's what started this.

I picked up a disc for the first time in 2020. My friend Vid — a merch guy on tour — handed me what was probably a Leopard and said try this. Honestly it didn't stick the first time. Second time it clicked and I haven't stopped since. There's something about being outside, in the sun, moving through trees, throwing at targets with people you like — it just does something for your head that's hard to explain. The Japanese actually prescribe walks in nature as treatment for certain mental health conditions. They call it Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing. I didn't know that when I started playing but I felt it.

When I'd come home to Laredo between tours I kept thinking about how much the city was missing. Nashville has courses everywhere. Cities I was visiting had disc golf communities, leagues, events, places to buy gear locally. Laredo had one course and nowhere to buy a disc. So in 2022 I opened the store — not because I had it all figured out, but because I got in early and I genuinely believe this sport is going to be a real thing here.

We're making progress. In 2025 I started El Chainazo — a recurring disc golf event here in Laredo built around community first, competition second. The idea was to create more options beyond just showing up to the course. Bigger cities have leagues, putting events, meet-ups. Why not Laredo? El Chainazo is the start of that. And there's a second course in the works for the city, which is something I've been pushing for.

This store is run by one person who plays, tours, and lives in the same community you do. Every disc I sell is something I'd throw. Every recommendation I make is honest. If you have a question, reach out — I actually answer.

Thanks for supporting a small Laredo business. It means more than you know.
